Ladies and Gentlemen...
...there's no reason to do this song here.
This week in 1977 EC & the A's put forth what still stands as the best 3 1/2 minutes of musical television history, when they replaced the AWOL Sex Pistols on SNL.
Readers are encouranged to share their memories of this event in the comments below.

I actually didn't see it until a rerun in 1979 appeared, and it was captured on our then brand-new sony $1100 VHS recorder. I remember sitting just in front of the TV on Sunday morning running this tape again and again and again. I had no idea who that guy was or why it was so compelling to me. I got AF which was already out, and must have picked up MAIT and TYM soon thereafter. By the time EC showed up at the Masonic Temple in Detroit (must have been very shortly after I saw the show) I was already a get-a-lifer.

After I saw that amazing moment on SNL, I saw EC and the Atractions at the Warner Theater in DC (that show ended up being a popular bootleg called Mr. Costello goes to Washington).
They blew away the audience with great songs from MAIT and TYM including Blame It On Cain (I've seen EC another 15 times since and have never heard him play that great song again).
I too have never stopped listening (and now my teenage kids listen also).

I wasn't born then, nor have I seen it. Am I missing out? Probably.
