911

Elvis asked me to ask you to read this. And/or this.

Comments

The first article (http://www.unansweredquestions.org/timeline/main/dayof911.html) makes some interesting points and a lot of them are plausible but my main problem with it is that the writer uses quotes from news media as his basis and mentions all the different contradictions between the sources to suggest that someone must be lying. Trusting news media to tell a story 100% accurately is asking for way too much. The "facts" of any story are going to change when told by different people. Just because someone tells a reporter their version of events and it gets printed doesn't mean that their memory of it is accurate and you're not necessarily deliberately lying if your story changes over time. Also, I somehow doubt that the reason the military jets weren't scrambled fast enough was due to a conspiracy. I imagine the reason one agency didn't inform another agency of some event fast enough was probably due to shock and not wanting to raise a false alarm of such magnitude. All these organizations are huge bureaucracies and they are never going to be able to move very quickly.
The 2nd article (http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/local/6742902.htm) is much more succinct and certainly easier to read.
And did Elvis really ask that we read this?

Here is my comment. Do I think that we all need more answers to what happened that day and what could have been prevented? Absolutely. Do I think that September 11th is the day to do that? NO! On the anniversary of this tragic day America, and the world, should mourn those lives lost that day and celebrate the heros who bravely saved lives. On 9/11/01 evil men did horribly evil things against innocent men women and children. The U.S. government did not do this - those men did this! To place blame on the anniversary of this day leaves a terrible taste in my mouth... On the anniversary each year I will tell my children stories of what America has to proud of from that day, firefighters saving lives, men and women rushing to peoples aid, neighbors gathering together to comfort one another, flags flying in every yard across this great country, communities coming together like never before... Thats what I will talk about - not who to blame for what. It was a horrific day that will live in all our memories forever... There is time to place blame and work out the system, but not on the anniversary of the day. So Mr. Costello, while I am a truly devoted fan of your music and talents, I had to let you know about my opinion of your choice of reading material for us on that day.
